Immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Dr.kayode fayemi,CON has described true leadership across board as panacea to sustainable peace across the African continent.
Dr fayemi state this in London while delivering a keynote talk at the African Leadership Center’s Postgraduate Conference held at the King’s College, University of London.
Dr fayemi who is now a visiting professor said it was an honor to have been invited to engage with fellow scholars and address the important topic of the leadership -peace Nexus in Africa from the perspective of a scholar-politician.
During the course of delivering the talk, he focused on demystifying leadership in Africa governnce experience and exploring the role of leadership in fostering a just and sustainable peace.
He stressed that the roles regional organizations like the African Union and ECOWAS play is crucial to peace building.
While explaining the relationship between democracy and leadership and peace in Africa, Dr. Fayemi shared his personal experience of transiting from the accadmia to politics as a scholar -politician .
Affirming that leadership plays crusial roles in matters of peace, security and stability, Dr fayemi said the topic is apt because it helped him to have deep understanding of the challenges in the society.
He however said it was not enough to engage in theoretical discussions alone but increase focus on practical implementation.
Drawing from his personal experience, he highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between academia, activism, politics and leveraging insider knowledge to drive positive change .
